What is Claywired Weaver?
Claywired Weaver is a handmade jewelry brand based in Maryland. Each piece is thoughtfully created using wire weaving, polymer clay, glass beads, wood and metal accents, semi-precious stones, natural stones, and other carefully selected materials sourced from trusted suppliers, including local bead and gemstone shops.

Will my skin turn green from your jewelry?

At Claywired Weaver, I use materials such as tarnish-resistant, silver-plated, and silver-filled wire, depending on the design. These wires are chosen because they offer a beautiful finish and are generally better suited for everyday jewelry than untreated craft wire. However, no metal finish is completely immune to tarnish, wear, or skin reaction over time.

Tarnish-resistant wire is specially coated or treated to help slow oxidation and discoloration. This helps the jewelry retain its shine longer, but the protective layer can wear down with heavy use, moisture, friction, or chemical exposure.

Silver-plated wire has a thin layer of silver over another base metal. It gives the look of silver at a more accessible price, but the silver layer can gradually wear over time, especially on areas that rub against skin or clothing. Once the plating wears down, the metal underneath may be more likely to react with skin chemistry.

Silver-filled wire contains a thicker layer of silver bonded to a base metal, making it more durable than standard silver plating. It is a higher-quality option than silver-plated wire and tends to hold up longer with proper care, but it can still tarnish or react depending on moisture, wear, and individual skin chemistry.

Some pieces may also be sealed or finished with jeweler’s wax and/or varnish. These finishes create a protective barrier that can help slow tarnishing, reduce direct contact between the metal and your skin, and help preserve the look of the jewelry. While these finishes are helpful, they are not permanent. Over time, they may naturally wear down from handling, rubbing, sweat, water, perfume, lotion, or daily wear.

A green mark is most often caused when metal reacts with moisture, salt, or acids on the skin. This can happen more often if you wear jewelry while sweating, washing your hands, applying lotion, using perfume, swimming, or showering. It may also happen more easily on humid days or with pieces worn tightly against the skin.

To help prevent skin discoloration and keep your jewelry looking its best, I recommend:

• Keep jewelry dry whenever possible.

• Remove jewelry before showering, swimming, exercising, or sleeping.

• Apply lotion, perfume, sunscreen, and hair products before putting jewelry on.

• Avoid wearing jewelry while washing dishes or cleaning.

• Store pieces in a clean, dry place when not in use.

• Gently wipe jewelry after wearing to remove skin oils and moisture.

• Avoid rubbing or scratching sealed areas, as this can wear down protective coatings.

If your skin does turn green or dark, it is usually temporary and should wash off with soap and water. It is not the same as an allergic reaction. However, if you experience itching, redness, swelling, burning, or irritation, please stop wearing the piece and consult a medical professional if needed.

Because every person’s skin chemistry is different, I cannot guarantee that discoloration will never happen, but I do choose materials and finishes thoughtfully to help make each piece as comfortable, wearable, and long-lasting as possible.

Where is your jewelry made?
Claywired Weaver jewelry is handmade in Maryland. Each design is created in small batches — and many pieces are one-of-a-kind or limited edition — with care, intention, and attention to detail.

Are all pieces handmade?
Yes. Each Claywired Weaver piece is made by hand without industrial machinery. Because of this, small variations in shape, color, texture, and wirework may occur. These natural differences are part of the beauty of handmade jewelry.

Are your designs one-of-a-kind?
Many pieces are one-of-a-kind or limited edition, made in small batches and never mass-produced. Even when a design is repeated, no two handmade pieces will be exactly alike. When a one-of-a-kind piece sells, it is gone for good — there is no restock.

Can I request a design I missed?
Because most pieces are one-of-a-kind or made in very limited quantities, restocks are not guaranteed. If a design is gone, it may never be made again. Follow Claywired Weaver on social media or check back regularly to catch new limited-edition releases.

Materials & Jewelry Care

What materials do you use?
Claywired Weaver pieces are handmade in Maryland using wire, polymer clay, glass beads, natural stones, and other materials purchased from trusted suppliers, including local bead and gemstone shops. Pieces may also include copper wire, tarnish-resistant wire, silver-plated wire, silver-filled wire, wood beads, metal beads, semi-precious stones, natural stones, and other carefully selected jewelry components.

Are your stones natural or semi-precious?
Many Claywired Weaver pieces are made with natural and/or semi-precious gemstone beads as listed by the supplier. Because stones are natural materials, they may vary in color, shape, size, pattern, markings, and texture. These variations are part of their natural beauty and are not considered defects. Any known material details will be included in the product description when available.

Will the wire tarnish?
Some metals, especially copper and silver-based materials, may naturally darken or develop a patina over time. Tarnish-resistant wire is designed to slow tarnishing, but it is not guaranteed to remain unchanged forever. Proper care can help preserve the look of your jewelry.

How should I care for my jewelry?
Keep jewelry dry and away from lotions, perfumes, oils, harsh chemicals, pools, hot tubs, and prolonged direct sunlight. Store pieces separately in a dry place when not in use. Handle wire-woven and polymer clay pieces gently to avoid bending, scratching, or breakage.

Can I wear my jewelry in water?
No. Jewelry should not be worn while swimming, showering, bathing, exercising heavily, or sleeping. Water, sweat, and chemicals may damage metal finishes, clay, beads, stones, and adhesives.

Is polymer clay durable?
Polymer clay is lightweight and flexible when properly cured, but it is not indestructible. Avoid bending, dropping, crushing, or storing clay pieces under heavy objects.

Ordering

How do I place an order?
Orders can be placed through the Claywired Weaver online shop when available. Because many pieces are one-of-a-kind or limited edition, we recommend ordering promptly — once a piece sells, it may not return. Follow the product listing instructions and review your order carefully before checkout.

Can I request a custom piece?
Custom requests are not available at this time.

Can I request a different color, stone, or wire type?
Possibly. Availability depends on current materials and the design of the piece. Because many materials are small-batch or in limited supply, exact substitutions may not always be available.

Will the item I receive look exactly like the photo?
All item photos on the website show the actual product available for purchase. Because colors and details may appear slightly different due to screen settings, lighting, photography, natural stone patterning, bead color, and handmade details, the item may look slightly different in person than it appears on your screen.

Shipping

Do you offer free shipping?
Orders of $75 or more qualify for free standard shipping. Orders under $75 ship for a flat rate of $6.

Large or Bulk Orders
Claywired Weaver offers flat-rate and free standard shipping for typical retail jewelry orders. For unusually large orders, bulk purchases, wholesale-style orders, high-value orders, or orders requiring multiple packages, oversized packaging, upgraded insurance, signature confirmation, or special handling, additional shipping charges may apply. If additional shipping is required, Claywired Weaver will contact the customer before shipping. The customer may choose to approve the additional shipping charge or cancel the unshipped order for a refund.

How long does it take for orders to ship?
Ready-to-ship items usually ship within 2-3 business days from the date of purchase, unless otherwise stated in the product listing.

Do you ship on Sundays?
No. Orders do not ship on Sundays.

How long does shipping take?
Shipping within the United States usually takes 3 to 5 business days after the order ships. Delivery times are estimates and may vary due to carrier delays, weather, holidays, or other circumstances outside of Claywired Weaver's control.

Do you ship internationally?
International sales are unavailable at this time.

What happens if my package is delayed?
Once an order is given to the shipping carrier, delivery timing is controlled by the carrier. Claywired Weaver is not responsible for carrier delays, but customers may contact the shop for help reviewing tracking information.

Returns, Exchanges & Cancellations

Do you accept returns?
Returns and refunds are governed by our Refund & Return Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

Claywired Weaver allows eligible returns within 30 calendar days of delivery, subject to the conditions stated in our Refund Policy.

Approved returns include free return shipping.

Items must be returned in original condition and must not be damaged, altered, heavily worn, or outside the return window.

Items marked Final Sale, if any, are not eligible for return or refund except where required by law or if the item arrives damaged.

Do you accept exchanges?
Claywired Weaver does not offer direct exchanges at this time. If you would like a different item, please return the original eligible item for a refund and place a new order for the piece you prefer. Note that because many pieces are one-of-a-kind or limited edition, the item you originally purchased may no longer be available.

Can custom orders be returned or canceled?
Custom, personalized, made-to-order, or altered pieces may be final sale once work has begun, unless the item arrives damaged, defective, or the law requires otherwise.

Is there a restocking fee?
Claywired Weaver does not charge a restocking fee for eligible returns received in original, clean, undamaged, and resellable condition.

A restocking fee of up to 10% of the item price may be deducted from the refund if a returned item requires additional cleaning, repackaging, minor repair, or replacement of packaging before it can be resold.

Restocking fees do not apply to items that arrive damaged due to shipping, defective items, or returns caused by an error by Claywired Weaver.

Any applicable restocking fee will be determined after the returned item is received and inspected.

What if my item arrives damaged?
Please contact Claywired Weaver as soon as possible with your order information and clear photos of the packaging and damaged item. Damage claims may require documentation for shipping carrier review.

Safety & Allergies

Is your jewelry hypoallergenic?
Claywired Weaver does not guarantee that all jewelry is hypoallergenic. Some components may contain metals or finishes that can irritate sensitive skin. Product descriptions may list known materials when available, but customers with metal sensitivities or allergies should review details carefully before purchasing.

Is your jewelry safe for children?
Claywired Weaver jewelry is intended for adults and older children only when appropriate. Jewelry may contain small parts, wire ends, beads, stones, or components that could pose choking, scratching, or injury hazards. It is not intended for babies, toddlers, or unsupervised children.

Can children wear Claywired Weaver jewelry?
Only with adult supervision and at the discretion of a parent or guardian. Jewelry should be removed before sleeping, bathing, swimming, sports, or rough play.

Handmade Variation & Product Expectations

Why does my piece have slight variations?
Handmade items naturally have subtle differences. Small variations in wire shape, bead placement, clay texture, color, or stone pattern are normal and are not considered defects. These variations are part of what makes each piece one-of-a-kind.

Are colors exact in photos?
Claywired Weaver makes reasonable efforts to display product colors accurately, but colors may appear different depending on screen settings, lighting, photography, and natural material variations.

Are natural stones perfect?
No. Natural and semi-precious stones may include inclusions, color changes, surface variations, irregular shapes, or natural markings. These are common features of natural materials and do not usually indicate damage.
